Architecture & team
The tower’s fan-shaped columns and large transfer girders route loads between the rail tracks beneath the site. A braced core, outrigger trusses, and diamond-shaped exterior braces resist lateral forces; a mass damper limits wind-induced motion.
Severud describes foundations carried on caissons drilled into bedrock and high-strength concrete designed for concentrated loads. These site constraints are central to the building’s form.
